Oregon QB Dante Moore won’t return this season from his concussion

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, who entered the season as a top prospect in the 2027 draft, will not play again during the 2026 season. Coach Dan Lanning announced Monday that Moore’s concussion last month will sideline him for the remainder of the schedule. “If it was up to Dante in any way, he would be out there playing for the guys,” Lanning said. “This is not a selfish decision on Dante’s part, saying, ‘I don’t want to come back, the season doesn’t look the way I want it to.’ That’s not what it is at all.” Lanning said Moore has not been cleared to return from the concussion suffered Sept. 26 against USC. After receiving an illegal hit while sliding, Moore was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation. “We said before that this is a serious issue that he will be able to fully recover from, 100%, that hasn’t changed,” Lanning said. “But him being on the field for us, that’s not going to happen. We’d love to have Dante there, he’ll still be a big part of this team.” The Ducks began the season ranked No. 2. They are now 4-3 and outside the top 25. Under the NCAA’s new five-year rule, Moore can return to college football in 2027, delaying his entry into the draft until 2028.
