Carnival Cruise man jumps overboard, ship turns around to search Posted Sep 20, 2026 10:43 am PDT | Updated September 20, 2026 at 11:48 am PDT A Carnival cruise ship made a U-turn to look for a man who jumped overboard into the waters off Mexico… and one of the passengers on the voyage told TMZ all about the tragic event. The search began Saturday morning as the boat headed along the coast of the Baja California peninsula. A Carnival representative tells TMZ… “Carnival Cruise Line confirmed Saturday that a male guest aboard the Carnival Panorama jumped overboard while the ship was sailing from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to Long Beach, California.” When notified that a guest was missing, the crew reviewed CCTV footage as part of their investigation and alerted the US and Mexican Coast Guard. The cruise line added… “Carnival is providing support to the family that was traveling with the guest, and our thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones.” A passenger tells TMZ … the incident occurred in the waters along the Baja Peninsula as the ship was returning to Long Beach. The cruise guest added…a family member had guest services locate the missing passenger around 10:30 a.m. after searching for him. After CCTV footage confirmed he fell overboard, the ship turned around at 2pm to search before resuming its route to Long Beach at approximately 4:30pm…passenger says. We’ve asked Carnival Cruise Line and the US Coast Guard about the status of the man who jumped overboard…so far, we haven’t heard back.
