GTA 6 fans are already copying items from the game’s $400 collector’s edition and 3D printing them for a much cheaper price. On September 24, Rockstar revealed a special $400 collector’s edition for GTA 6… except it doesn’t actually come with the game. Despite placing almost half of the shelf, players won’t get the game itself; instead, it comes with a bunch of GTA 6 branded merchandise. The bundle includes items like a cartoon alligator figure, stickers, pins, a hat, and a pair of Oakley sunglasses, which is probably where most of the cost comes from. And while fans can’t copy them exactly, they are 3D printed copies of at least one trinket from the collection. GTA 6 Vice City Collection Collector’s Items One of the most viral examples of this is a recreation of the game’s Macca the crocodile mascot, which has been fully modeled and uploaded as a printable file online. And instead of paying $400, fans can simply support their creator by paying whatever they want. Reactions to this solution have been extremely divided; Some fans support the copycat for their creative solution to an expensive problem, while others rally against them, saying that making a 3D copy completely defeats the purpose of purchasing a rare item. “Why print it if it has already lost its main and only purpose, which is rarity?” a user asked on price, but this is just stupid,” argued another. “I figured this would happen, but not this soon… That being said, I want one,” another commenter admitted. “This is the best, I just wanted this! [figure]but I wasn’t willing to spend $400 to get it,” wrote another. The GTA 6 Collector’s Edition has sparked a viral debate within the gaming community at large, with many comparing it to the Red Dead Redemption 2 Collector’s Edition, which was much cheaper and had comparatively more interesting and more game-specific items. It only cost $100 and even came with some in-game items, such as a physical version of the in-game map. The GTA 6 Collector’s Edition without an actual game to show for it is a pinch of salt for players mourning the lack of a true physical disc. The “physical” version of GTA 6 is in name only; it will have a case, but only a downloadable code inside. And while this is probably part of Rockstar’s plans to stop early leaks, players can’t help but point out Sony’s plans to completely end production of physical game discs in January 2028.
