The Lady of the Church has taken over the league office. And the league’s official beer sponsor has made the most of it. Three different fines were issued this week to players who imitated the consumption of a beverage the NFL assumed was beer. Bud Light, which reportedly pays the NFL $250 million a year, has leaned toward cracking down on the league. Tweeted the official Bud Light account: “$37,384 in the jar… how many beers will that buy for everyone this weekend?” Ferguson ($13,611). Meanwhile, as Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News points out, the Cowboys have Miller Lite logos all over the backdrop of their press conferences in Brazil, where they will play the Ravens this weekend. This is all ridiculously hypocritical for the NFL. But the league doesn’t care. For the NFL, it’s about doing what we say, not what we make.
