Now, Diggs will presumably be quarterback Jayden Daniels’ top target, with Dyami Brown, rookie Antonio Williams and Treylon Burks forced into larger roles. Earlier on Monday, Washington had placed leading running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt on injured reserve. Winless in its last three games, Washington finds itself in dire straits offensively, though there is still the saving grace of its NFC East residency. Over the past two weeks, all four teams in the division were winless, with the New York Giants (3-2-1) remaining in first place, followed by the Philadelphia Eagles (2-4), Dallas Cowboys (2-4) and Commanders, in that order. After making a 27-yard reception on Washington’s first drive, McLaurin was injured later in the first quarter. He was facing 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir on a passing play when he fell to the ground, immediately grabbing his left knee. They later put a cast on him and took him off the field. A five-time 1,000-yard receiver and two-time Pro Bowler, McLaurin finished the season with 15 receptions for 230 yards and a touchdown.
