Unfinished gameplay footage of EA Motive’s silent Iron Man game leaked online on Friday, and EA just came forward and confirmed that it’s real. The roughly two-and-a-half-minute clip, watermarked “AUG26 TEST,” spread first on ResetEra and then on Reddit and social media. The footage shows Tony Stark flying through a city, possibly Chicago, fighting enemies on the ground and in the air, and visiting what looks like a SHIELD helicopter. It’s clearly early work, with rough textures and unfinished scenes, but the flying and combat seem pretty polished for something so far from release. EA decided to confirm the leak rather than take Rockstar’s approach and issue DMCA takedowns. The publisher posted via Marvel’s official Iron Man EA and Marvel announced the game in October 2022 as a single-player third-person project from Motive, the Montreal studio behind the Dead Space remake. Updates have been scarce since then and the silence led to speculation that the project could be in trouble. This leak, as awkward as it is, gives EA something it hasn’t had in years: people are talking about an Iron Man game again. It seems like EA is choosing to follow or fly, so to speak.
