Should Pickford have saved it? – player ratings for Everton v Chelsea

Emiliano Martínez: The Argentine goalkeeper was lucky not to be penalized after taking too long a goal kick and conceding a corner. He also made several stops, although none were particularly demanding. Martinez was later stretchered off following a collision with Jarrad Branthwaite in worrying scenes. 6Josh Acheampong: Acheampong looked a threat going forward but was booked for a late challenge on Grealish in the first half. 6Maxence Lacroix: One of Lacroix’s best performances since he arrived at Chelsea. He saw a header from a corner cleared off the line and defended impressively throughout. 7Levi Colwill: A relatively quiet afternoon for the centre-back, who rarely had problems defensively. 6Pedro Neto: The Portuguese winger scored 43 seconds into the restart after threatening shortly before half-time with a long-range shot. He was involved in much of Chelsea’s attacking play but received an unnecessary booking for dissent. Neto scored his second goal in the 90th minute, after a blocked free kick fell at his feet inside the area. 8Jordan Henderson: Influential at all times, contributing in all areas of the field. His set piece was powerful and he also saw a shot blocked. 7Moises Caicedo: Enjoyed the physical battle in midfield and came close to scoring with a magnificent first-time volley that hit the crossbar just before the break. 7Jorrel Hato: The Dutch defender, Chelsea’s only change from last week’s victory, provided the assist for Neto’s first goal and was composed in possession. 7Cole Palmer: A relatively calm performance by his standards, although he looked dangerous every time he had the ball. He tested the goalkeeper early on and then fired an inventive shot over the bar. 6Morgan Rogers: The club’s record signing showed his competitive edge at all times. His clever backheel played a key role in setting up Chelsea’s goal. 7Joao Pedro: A rare subdued performance from the Brazilian, who had enjoyed excellent form before the match. Pedro wasted a good chance to seal the victory in the 86th minute. 5Subs: Mike Penders (74, Martínez): In less than optimal circumstances, the young Belgian goalkeeper replaced an injured Martínez in his Premier League debut. Penders made a good strike from a cross in his first action in the 84th minute, but shook the ball in the next before making an easy save. 6Marco Palestra (at 90+1, Hato)Danny Welbeck (at 90+1, Joao Pedro)Romeo Lavia (at 90+1, Caicedo)Geovany Quenda (at 90+11, Neto)Unused substitutes: Fofana, Barco, Nicoll-Jazuli, Estevao, Quenda
