The Trump administration’s lowering of fuel efficiency standards this week is a victory for consumers over heavy-handed government dictates designed to cajole the auto industry into producing electric vehicles, which are more expensive, on average, than gasoline-powered cars. At the same time, anyone who thinks that this means the end of the transition towards more environmentally friendly vehicles is wrong.
