Polyarc, the developer best known for the acclaimed Moss series of console and virtual reality games, has announced it is closing its doors. This marks the end of the studio’s nearly 12-year run. On LinkedIn, Polyarc’s official profile posted this message: “After nearly 12 years of riding the joyous rollercoaster of emotions that video games create, our time together has come to an end. As we wrap up active development, we say goodbye to each other. Working together for all these years has been an honor. Bringing surprise and delight to those who have played our games has been a privilege. Thanks to everyone at Polyarc, our work is now done.” The message concludes with a reverse recruitment spreadsheet with contact information for study employees. Polyarc burst onto the scene with 2018’s Moss, an action-adventure puzzle game that shined as one of the best-received VR titles of the time. He followed up with Moss: Book II in 2022. This July, Polyarc released Moss: The Forgotten Relic, a non-VR adventure that combines both Moss games into a single title. Unfortunately, Polyarc isn’t the only studio coming to an end this year.
