Blizzard Entertainment will release “World of Warcraft Forever,” a game set during the first year of the original 2004 “World of Warcraft,” on November 4. The “Forever” project was revealed as the final announcement during the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony at the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday, but rumors about the title (known colloquially as “World of Warcraft Classic+” among fans speculating online) have been circulating for weeks. Blizzard’s “Warcraft” boss Holly Longdale said the developers intend for the game world to be the main character in “Forever,” noting that in this new MMO it’s “the journey that counts, not the destination.” At launch, the game will have a level cap of 60, include three new zones, several revised zones, and a new race called Skyborn Elves. Additionally, the “Warcraft” team announced a new campaign for “Warcraft 3,” the first in more than two decades, launching today. The BlizzCon opening ceremony also included announcements about a new “StarCraft” game coming in 2030, “Diablo V” coming in 2029, and a “Diablo” animated TV series in the works at Netflix. Variety will be at BlizzCon from September 12 to 13, and readers can follow our coverage of the event here, a celebration of all things Blizzard Entertainment, from “StarCraft” to “Diablo,” to “World of Warcraft” and “Overwatch.” More to come…
