Jeenah Moon | ReutersStock futures rose early on Tuesday, maintaining momentum from the previous session after the Nasdaq Composite rose to a new record. S&P 500 futures rose 0.25%, while Dow futures gained 0.48%. Nasdaq-100 futures rose 0.26%. During the regular trading day, the Nasdaq Composite gained about 1% to hit an all-time high and record close. The Dow Industrials rose about 90 points, or 0.2%, while the S&P 500 added 0.7%. Stocks related to AI trading saw notable moves during the day. SpaceX jumped more than 7%, while Nvidia and Tesla rose more than 2% each. Meta Platforms and Microsoft rose more than 1%. In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.29% on Tuesday, while South Korea’s Kospi fell 0.23%. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.53%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index added 0.95%, while the mainland Chinese market remained closed for the Golden Week holiday. Oil prices fell on Monday. Brent crude futures fell 1.9% to close at $100.32 a barrel and West Texas Intermediate crude fell about 1.8% to $89.43 a barrel. Oil was trading slightly higher on Tuesday. Treasury yields remained the focus, as the 10-year bond yield once again reached highs last seen in 2002, topping 5.3%. The 30-year yield also surpassed 5.7% at one point, also to hit its highest level in 24 years. Bonds have been volatile over the past six weeks, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management chief investment officer Lisa Shalett said in a note to clients. He cited a potentially new Federal Reserve policy framework, economic growth and high oil prices as the Middle East conflict drags on as factors. “However, while intraday implied volatility has increased, the six-week stretch has not reached the extremes that catalyzed the 2022 equity bear market,” Shalett wrote.
