President Trump was expected to attend Steelers-Bucs, before his schedule changed

The Commander in Chief’s propensity to attend sporting events almost resulted in his presence at another NFL game. But in the end it was not like that. On Tuesday, CNN’s Kristen Holmes reported that President Trump was expected to attend the Week 6 game between the Steelers and Buccaneers in Tampa. Later that day, he reported that Trump would not be making the trip. It would have been the third NFL game Trump would attend during his current term. He was present at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans between the Chiefs and Eagles. Last year, he attended a Lions-Commanders game in Maryland, making him the first sitting president to attend a regular-season game in nearly 50 years. Two years ago, in the weeks leading up to the election that resulted in his second term, Trump attended a Sunday night game between the Jets and Steelers. It remains to be seen if he shows up for an NFL game before the midterm elections, which are in 20 days. The Commanders are currently scheduled to host the Eagles on Sunday, Nov. 1, two days before in-person polls officially open.
