The Xreal Aura, a spatial computing glasses made in collaboration with Google for the Android XR platform, is now available to order. We first encountered these XR glasses at Google I/O 2026, and early adopters will finally be able to try them out in a matter of weeks. The futuristic XR device combines elements of augmented reality and virtual reality in one pair of smart glasses. They are the first wired smart glasses to run Google’s new Android XR operating system. The glasses and accessories are available for pre-order on Xreal’s website starting today and are scheduled to ship in mid-November, according to a press release shared with Mashable. Customers who pre-order the glasses can save $180 off the high price of $1,279. “Xreal Aura is finally here and we are so proud to unlock new ways for people to work, watch, play and build,” said Chi Xu, co-founder and CEO of XREAL, in a press release. The Xreal Aura uses dual Sony Micro-OLED displays to create a virtual display with a 70-degree field of view, up to 1,050 nits of brightness, and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Xreal Aura will provide spatial computing and virtual reality experiences typically associated with headsets in the form of smart glasses. Xreal Aura is part of a new generation of spatial computing smart glasses, alongside Snap’s Specs AR glasses and the recently announced Meta VR glasses. The Snap Specs are completely wireless but have a chunky design and a price tag of $2,195. The Meta VR headset is priced at $1,299, but won’t launch until spring 2027. (A press release states that the glasses were made in partnership with Google and Qualcomm.) Mashable Light Speed Unlike most AR glasses, the Xreal Aura can also be controlled via voice and hand movements, thanks to integrated sensors and cameras. Instead of simply connecting to the user’s smartphone, laptop, or gaming device, the Aura glasses come with a puck that houses the battery and powers most of the computing needed for spatial computing. Apple Vision Pro brought spatial computing into the public consciousness. The technology turns the user’s environment into a 360-degree virtual canvas, and users can open applications, games, entertainment and artificial intelligence tools directly in their space. However, unlike headphones, which can be extremely limiting, smart glasses do not limit the user’s movements or block their peripheral vision. “This is a watershed moment for XR,” Xu said in a press release. “We created AURA for people who want the power of spatial computing without being separated from the world around them. With clear lenses, a category-leading lightweight design, Gemini at your side, and access to the Android ecosystem from day one, the promise of XR is more accessible than ever.” Xreal Aura will also offer support for Gemini, allowing users to ask questions about their environment or complete tasks through apps. For example, users can turn their existing photos and videos into 3D, while panoramas will be converted into full 360-degree experiences. Through Google Maps, users can explore destinations in immersive 3D, either with an aerial view or via Street View. Users can also enjoy 360-degree and VR180 video content on YouTube. New XR Experiences At launch, users will also be able to access a library of over 150 XR experiences, with more to come in the coming months.
