New Orks Codex exclusive on Warhammer TV

We also had a quick chat with Necrons Overlord Josh before he rushed into the game to see if he had any plans to defeat the new Orks. WarCom: How much do you expect to face the new Orks? Josh: I’m looking forward to it, as you’d expect from one of your game hosts, I’m ready for a fight, I haven’t faced the Orks since filming the launch game for the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 and taking on the Space Marines in a Priority Assets vs. Enemy Purge showdown. This time I’m going esoteric. I have delved deep into the vaults of the Necrons to conjure up a list of stirring tomb constructs, legions of warriors, and fragments of chained star gods! It will be Take and Hold for the Necrons vs Purge the enemy, because the Orks never change! WarCom: Ghazghkull and Nazdreg are a fearsome one-two punch. How do you plan to deal with such heavy hitters? Josh: Facing these two epic heroes will be a challenge. Have you seen the new Ghazghkull datasheet? Nazdreg is no slouch either, being the perfect leader to lead a squad of Meganobz into the fray. My plan is to try to control the pace of the game. The Orks are devastating on attack but vulnerable on counterattack, so I hope I can control the engagement speed so I can take on these titans on my terms, without being swallowed by a Waaagh! giant. WarCom: You have your own heavy hitters in the form of two C’tan Shards. Do you have a favorite and what are your plans for these Star God Shards? Josh: I have a favorite. I’m an old school fan! I’ve been in Warhammer since, well… the last time we had Orks and Space Marines in the Assault on Black Reach back in 2000 and CENSORED. Nightbringer was the archetypal boogeyman in those days, fleshed out with novels like… well, Nightbringer. So it’s always had that esoteric, supernatural vibe that appeals to me. He even forces me. The Nightbringer has the opportunity to deal a ton of devastating wounds with his scythe and a ton of deadly damage with his abilities, so getting stuck in the middle of an army that loves to get stuck like the Orks should have this C’tan Shard in its element. WarCom: While everyone’s eyes are on the big, deadly units, those Gretchin can go unnoticed and now have their target locked in! What are you going to do with the Grots? Josh: The Gretchins are of no interest to the Dynasty Overlords! Wretched groupers who stand over targets and secure them with their scrap metal, filth, and half-chewed ammo casings. I’ll just ignore them! They are below the Necrons! I’m sure they won’t pose a threat at all… unless they get in the way, or block me from a key objective, deny me a secondary objective… or change the tide of the battle? I guess we’ll just have to find out, right? Will the Gretchin manage to trip up a C’tan fragment? Who will win in a shootout between Big Mek Dakkarigs and Canoptek Doomstalkers? Find out when Battle Report will be released on Thursday.
