Next week, the iPhone Ultra will be unveiled at Apple’s September event, and today a new Tom’s Guide interview with Mark Gurman reveals several new details about what to expect from the specs, software, launch timing, and more. This is what comes with the iPhone Ultra, according to Mark Gurman A week after the presentation of the iPhone Ultra, new leaks are still arriving. Today, in a new interview with Tom’s Guide, Mark Gurman shared a variety of tidbits, including some details that haven’t been reported before. MagSafe, for example, has been a recent question mark for the iPhone Ultra. But Gurman was quick to say that MagSafe will not be absent. “MagSafe is there. Yes, all the indications I’ve heard are that MagSafe is present on this foldable phone.” When asked about the iPhone Ultra’s specs, Gurman mentions: 5.5-inch cover screen and 7.8-inch interior screen, “the latest Apple Pro chip and the latest Apple modem.” It also talks about two key features: the rumored “crease-free” display and the liquid metal hinge. He says the fold isn’t completely gone, but it’s comparable to Samsung’s new foldables and could be even better thanks to the more durable hinge. Regarding the hinge and durability, he adds: Apple’s specification was to make the foldable phone as durable or at least close to it as any other iPhone. And that’s one of the things they’ve spent a lot of time working on: durability. Multitasking was another key area addressed in the interview. Gurman previously reported that iOS 27 will enable iPad-like app layouts and parallel app multitasking. Today it adds that drag and drop between multiple on-screen apps will be supported, so you can quickly move data from one app to another. Gurman also comments on the timing of the launch, with encouraging news on that front: I would be very surprised if the foldable phone didn’t come out at the same time as the new Pro phones, or very close to it. So either on the same release date (a dual release) or coming out a few weeks later. This idea of a late October launch, a November launch, massive delays, supply chain issues, I don’t think that’s the case. Finally, when asked about pricing, Gurman reiterates the same $2,000+ starting price expectation he shared earlier.
