New GTA 6 Age Rating Confirms Game Will Feature Sex Scenes

GTA 6 will have sex scenes, according to a new list from international rating boards. In New Zealand and Australia, the GTA 6 store page on PlayStation has been updated to include the game’s official age rating. Something similar happened this morning with the UK and US versions of the game, but the New Zealand and Australian versions offer one clear difference: the mention of sex scenes. Yes, it’s true: there will be sex in GTA 6. If you’re wondering, “Is it different from GTA 5?” Currently, it’s a bit confusing. The brief GTA 5 rating description on the store page makes no mention of sex scenes, even though there is at least one. Halfway through the game, Trevor can be seen getting weird with Johnny Klebitz’s girlfriend (admittedly, it’s pretty brief). Instead, the ratings description only mentions “Sex.” It’s unclear if ratings boards have evolved their language since GTA 5’s release nearly a decade and a half ago, or if GTA 6 will feature more detailed and scripted sex scenes, more comparable to a movie or TV show. It’s also possible that GTA 5’s more general, less specific description more explicitly references the ability to pick up and have sex with sex workers. Leaderboards may view these gameplay moments differently than sex scenes with many mo-caps appearing in the scenes. GTA 6 sex scenes can be much more focused and graphic, especially since the story revolves around the romantic relationship between Jason and Lucia. Several trailers have shown intimate and sensual scenes between the two characters, so it’s possible that the full game will include some pretty racy material. Ultimately, all we can do is speculate until we get detailed breakdowns of the specific content that led to this rating, which is sure to follow in the coming weeks. Ultimately, it looks like Rockstar is pulling no punches with GTA 6. Rating descriptions have mentioned blood and gore, intense violence, drug use, and more, so it looks like we’re in for another cutting-edge GTA game. The developer has managed to keep a lot of things under wraps, but recently revealed that he visited strip clubs in Florida for “research purposes.” We’re officially just a month away from the GTA 6 release date, so there’s sure to be plenty more marketing buzz in the coming weeks. Whether that will bring a new trailer or other forms of marketing remains to be seen, but Rockstar has shelled out big bucks for an ad atop the Miami Heat stadium in Florida and has begun placing ads in New York starting today.
