Little league baseball in the cornfields? Is this heaven? No, it’s the MiLB game at Field of Dreams between the Triple-A St. Paul Saints and the Iowa Cubs. The Minors return to the iconic movie “Field of Dreams” set in Dyersville, Iowa, for the first time in four years, and it’s shaping up to be one of the summer’s biggest events. The game is scheduled for tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET, two days before the Phillies and Twins meet in the MLB game at Field of Dreams, and will air live on MLB Network with MLB Pipeline’s Paul Severino, Dan Plesac, Sande Charles and Jesse Borek on the call. Fans can also stream the game here on MLB.com, at the top of this article, as well as on MLB.TV, MLB+ and the MLB app. This will be just the second time a MiLB game has been played at the iconic venue, and Twins and Cubs prospects will look to make it a night to remember. Justin Nwogu, designated hitter As far as Twins affiliates go, the Saints are as potent as they come. The roster features 10 of the organization’s top 30 prospects, highlighted by two of the club’s top three prospects: Walker Jenkins and Emmanuel Rodríguez. Each member of the pair brings a different set of tools, but they share one thing in common: the ability to drive the ball. Jenkins, the No. 5 overall pick in 2023, has the makings of a genuine five-tool player. He ranks as MLB’s No. 14 prospect and has easy 60-grade pop in his 6-foot-3 frame that’s combined with a 60-grade hitting tool and more speed. Nicknamed “Captain America” for his resemblance to actor Chris Evans and his legendary status on the US baseball circuit, Jenkins can do it all on the field. He displays a polished approach to boxing, walking almost as much as he strikes out (32 BB/38 K), and routinely finds the barrel with his powerful left-handed swing. In the outfield, expect Jenkins to make a spectacular play or two, whether tracking down a deep fly ball with his added speed or picking off a runner with his 60-grade arm. Rodriguez (MLB No. 52) returns to action after surgery on his left thumb. Often injured, Rodriguez displays impressive pop when healthy, hitting extra-base hits with regularity and generating tons of bat speed with his powerful swing from the left side. In the outfield, Rodriguez has plenty of arm strength to catch runners trying to take an extra base. Offensive-minded outfielders Gabriel González (MIN No. 7) and Hendry Méndez (MIN No. 8) round out the Twins’ top 10 prospects on the team. St. Paul has an impressive lineup, but watch out for Iowa’s depth. The Cubs affiliate has a roster filled with top current and former prospects. Owen Ayers (CHC No. 2) serves as the Cubs’ backup in the contest. Once seen as a Minor League depth piece in the 19th round in 2024, the switch-hitting backstop posted a 1.130 OPS in 20 Arizona Fall League games last fall and hasn’t slowed down since. In 2026, Ayers rose from High-A to Triple-A while hitting 23 big fly balls, tied for the most among minor league catchers. He took three hits in his first game with Iowa, indicating he feels right at home at the highest level of the minors. Also keep an eye out for a power and speed threat in the Cubs’ No. 25 prospect, BJ Murray. Like Culpepper, Murray reached the 20-20 threshold in 2025, the only Cubs player to do so. He exhibits a mature combination of plate discipline and pop as a switch-hitter and is hitting .300/.407/.497 in 98 games. In addition to the collection of highly touted prospective talents taking the field, Iowa also includes recently graduated slugger Kevin Alcantara. “The Jaguar” spent several seasons among MLB’s elite prospects and still projects to become a dangerous Major League bat in the future. He has hit 17 home runs in 61 games in Triple-A. Starting the game will be a pair of young lefties who have spent time on The Show this year. St. Paul will turn to Kendry Rojas, a 6-foot-2 lefty who uses his upper-90s speed and excellent extension to get plenty of swings and misses. The 23-year-old also boasts a slider and changeup in the upper 80s and has been difficult for opponents to square up with. Iowa starter Jordan Wicks is a 2021 first-rounder with excellent control that mixes in six pitches from a high position. His 80s changeup has been his best pitch and he tends to generate a lot of ground balls. You know what they say: “Present a lineup loaded with prospects and they will come.”
