Five people were killed and several others were injured after an Amazon cargo plane overran a runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday, authorities said. Video captured the plane crashing. During a press conference, Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said the Amazon cargo plane crashed at 1:58 p.m. after overrunning runway 30 at the airport. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said five people were taken to the hospital. A source with knowledge of the incident told NBC6 that the two pilots were taken to Jackson South and three others to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Authorities have not identified the deceased or the people who were taken to the hospital. The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement that Air Flight 7598 overran the runway after landing at the airport around 2 p.m. ET on Sunday. The plane, a Boeing 767-300 cargo plane, took off from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. “The FAA will investigate,” the statement said. The National Transportation Safety Board is sending a team to Miami to investigate the crash. MIA officials said two of the four runways have reopened. Check NBC6 for updates
