Juvenile in custody after crash into building causes natural gas leak in Mishawaka

MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WSBT) — People evacuated from an apartment building near the South Bend and Mishawaka border Wednesday morning because of a gas leak are now being told they can return home.First responders worked to keep people back from the area of Hickory Road and Sorin Street, right next to the Pin Oak Apartments.Emergency dispatch says a vehicle ran into a building, sparking the gas leak.A vehicle ran into a building in the area of Hickory Road and Sorin Street, causing a natural gas leak (Photo courtesy Michael Binder)A South Bend officer tried to pull over the vehicle in a traffic stop, and the vehicle ran into the building within 20 seconds.The driver, a juvenile, was taken into custody.
