Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth refused to hold Jesse Watters’ drink at Thursday night’s state dinner held in honor of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Fox News host said. Watters was asked on The Five what dinner attendees thought about President Donald Trump’s claim that he wants to change the name from artificial intelligence, or AI, to superintelligence. “I stayed at the same hotel as Tim Cook, the Apple guy. I see him and I say, ‘Congratulations on all your success,’ and he shakes my hand and says, ‘You too, Tucker,'” Watters said, apparently referring to Tucker Carlson. “But the best part is that you know how to get in, Greg. [Gutfeld]And do you have to go through the security part? After Gutfeld responded affirmatively, Watters continued: “So we walk in and the CEO of Microsoft is sitting like this, waiting. And everyone walks by. And I’m like, ‘What happened?’ and he said, ‘I misspelled my date of birth.’ It’s the same thing we screwed up last time. “That made me feel a lot smarter.” “And then you walk in and the first guy you see is Jensen Huang,” Watters said. “I said, ‘We just did something on ‘The Five’ where you always wear the same outfit so you don’t have to make a lot of decisions.” He says, ‘Not only that, I eat the same lunch every day… I’ve rolled up pieces of ham and turkey because I can eat and write at the same time.’” Watters later added: “So, we go in there, this is a little embarrassing, they want to take pictures. And I turned around and said, ‘Hegseth, can you hold my drink because I don’t want to have a drink in a photo?'” Hegseth reportedly responded, “I can’t be seen holding a drink!” Hegseth’s alcohol consumption has been a topic of constant scrutiny during the second Trump administration.
