Following Tuesday’s announcement, Google is slowly rolling out Motion Assist to phones running Android 17. Once rolled out, you can search for “motion assist” in the Settings app. The longest way is Settings app > Google > All services tab > Personal and device security > Motion assistance. This new feature, which appears alongside Advanced Protection and Theft Protection, is part of Google Play services. The preferences menu lets you have Motion Assist “start automatically in a moving vehicle,” but Google also recommends adding the quick settings tile. This allows you to manually enable and disable “from any screen.” You can add it from this page or from the usual editing screen under “From system applications”. Once active, there is also a system notification that allows you to disable it with a tap.
