In a fjord in West Greenland there is a glacier that flows so fast that it generates about 41 billion metric tons of icebergs each year. Day after day, building-sized blocks of blue-white ice break off from the ocean and float like a fleet of frozen ships through the calm waters of the fjord. Each additional iceberg causes sea level to rise slightly, like adding an ice cube to a glass.
