Iran tried to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son, the Prime Minister said during a phone call with Channel 14 military correspondent Noam Amir broadcast Monday. “This is an incredible case. Iran targeted one of my sons. Iran tried to murder him, tried to murder one of my sons,” the Prime Minister said. “Is this part of the intelligence that was provided to you?” Amir asked. “Iran tried to kill one of my sons. And that’s why this promise [I am making] It’s more than a luxury: without it, they could be successful [in killing my son.] People need to show some restraint, especially during an election campaign,” Netanyahu responded. “I spoke with the head of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency). [David Zini] “I spoke to the head of the Shin Bet and asked him to take care of adequate security for whoever runs for prime minister,” Netanyahu told Amir. In July, The Ministerial Committee for Shin Bet Affairs (Israel Security Agency) approved the granting of personal protection extended to Netanyahu’s wife, Sara, and his children, Yair and Avner. Netanyahu did not appear to say whether Yair or Avner were the target of Iran’s assassination attempt.
