Apple customers can collect up to $95 from a class-action settlement arising from a lawsuit alleging that the tech giant ran false ads about artificial intelligence capabilities on devices that did not have the technology fully integrated. This spring, Apple reached a $250 million settlement to resolve the class-action lawsuit related to delays in integrating AI and Siri capabilities into new devices. The launch of the iPhone 16 in September 2024 created a “clear and reasonable consumer expectation” that AI features would be added to the devices. While the company released Apple Intelligence features that year, ChatGPT’s integration with Siri and an emoji tool fell short of those expectations, according to the lawsuit. Under the terms of the settlement, class members who submit valid claims would receive a cash payment of $25 per device, which can be adjusted up or down to a maximum payment of $95 per device depending on the total number of valid claims submitted.
