This thing? It’s just a cross strap. It’s a fun and youthful way to carry your phone. It is fashionable among Europeans and young people. I love it and I definitely don’t feel weird or self-conscious wearing it. Plus, it’s great to have a $700 investment hanging close to your waist as you walk down the street. A kind of emotion. Elegant? Yeah, I guess it looks pretty cool. Especially when I pair it with an oversized jacket and the fabric pools around my armpit. It’s a pretty perfect addition to my wardrobe since I basically live in Tevas and a pair of workout leggings from Target. In fact, I’m a member of Target Circle. I don’t like to brag about it, but that’s how connected I am to the latest fashion trends. Anyway, one of my friends saw me put the sling bag on my shoulder and said, “I feel like I’m hanging out with Rick Steves.” Convenient? Completely. It’s so easy to grab my phone, move it so the screen is in front of me, and send a text without missing a beat. Much easier than just pulling it out of my jacket pocket. Plus, I always have my phone handy to tap to pay. Sometimes I have to bend over and do a mini squat to get to the payment terminal, but that’s a little extra exercise. That’s the kind of thing you can do when you live a soft pants lifestyle. One of my friends saw me put the sling bag over my shoulder and said, “I feel like I’m hanging out with Rick Steves.” You know what else? It’s too dark in bars these days, or they’re making the print smaller on menus. Maybe both. But that’s not a problem when you have your phone with a crossbody strap. Simply press the flashlight switch (on purpose, for a change) and you’ll have a handy reading light at your side. Nothing complements the atmosphere of a moody cocktail lounge like 50 lumens of bright white LEDs directed at your receipt while you determine whether or not a service charge was included. Honestly? It would be helpful if the shoulder bag could also hold other things. Like maybe my keys, some tissues and a small notebook. Small change, Carmex, that kind of thing. And maybe I can take out my phone when I get home, hang it on the coat rack, and have it ready for my next outing. A shoulder bag, but a little bigger so it can hold all the things you leave the house. I bet they sell one at Target.
