Two of boxing’s most boisterous personalities clash as Rolando “Rolly” Romero defends his WBA Welterweight Championship against Teofimo Lopez in a two-division battle of champions. Romero (17-2, 13 KOs), a two-division champion, has not fought since defeating Ryan Garcia in May 2025 to capture the WBA (regular) welterweight crown. “Rolly” was elevated to WBA outright champion last August after Jaron Ennis vacated his titles and moved up to super welterweight. Romero previously held the WBA super lightweight title from 2023 until losing it to Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz in 2024. He unsuccessfully challenged Gervonta “Tank” Davis in 2022 for the WBA lightweight (regular) belt. Lopez (22-2, 13 KOs) will look to become a three-division champion in his welterweight debut. Shakur Stevenson comprehensively outclassed him last January, losing his WBO super lightweight title. “The Takeover” previously won the unified lightweight titles after defeating modern-day great Vasiliy Lomachenko in 2020. Lopez’s fight with Stevenson was the last of his deal with Top Rank. He was linked with a move to Zuffa Boxing, but instead signed directly with broadcaster DAZN and is working with PBC for Saturday’s fight.
