Parents don’t always respect boundaries with their kids, but they need to learn to do that, especially when their kids make their boundaries very, very clear.
In this story, one teen has ADHD, autism and is a self-described germaphobe. All of that combined makes her very self aware of why she reacts to situations the ways she does, but her mom seems clueless.
Keep reading for all the details about why the teen is so upset with her mom, and in turn, why the mom is so upset at the teen.
For context, my mother has been grabbing my butt for more than five years now jokingly.
She did not stop those years even when I constantly asked her politely to stop grabbing my butt.
It makes me very uncomfortable as she does it anywhere, no regards to where we are.
Here’s some more context about OP’s habits and issues.
Another somewhat important piece of information, I have mild germaphobia and I can’t have anything touch my bed or pjs without them being cleaned first.
I am also, messy and unorganized.
So I’m hand sanitizing everything in a messy desk like some Frankenstein’s monster. (Adhd and autism)
Here’s what made OP really upset.
One morning, I left my safe, clean bedspace for food. I was chilling in my pjs standing. My mom walks by and slaps my butt.
As this has happened for years, and my mom didn’t wash her hands before touching my pjs…
I. Got. MAD. I snapped. I slammed open the back door and yelled into the neighborhood. “I WISH MY MOM WOULD STOP GRABBING MY BUTT. I’VE ASKED HER TO STOPPED FOR SO LONG AND SHE NEVER FREAKING LISTENS”
I barely even swore in my life too.
Now, they’re both upset.
I then stomp inside and enter my safe, clean space after cleaning my pjs with hand sanitizer.
I then come downstairs still angry and run into my mom.
I yelled at her about the whole situation and then she got mad at me… for “yelling so loud you let the whole neighborhood know”
EXCUSE ME? YOU ARE THE ONE OBVIOUSLY GRABBING MY BUTT IN PUBLIC AND IM THE PROBLEM FOR YELLING IT OUT ON SOME WEEKEND?
She doesn’t think her mom understands at all.
Anyway, she then ranted on and on (you can see how we are related) and proceeded to call me sick (because of the germaphobia and routines I need to follow) and the most disgusting person in the whole family… sick…
That obviously hurt my feelings.
She’s the neurotypical one in the family so she barely understands and she isn’t ever supportive for things related to mental health… it just hurts a lot for your own mom to call you sick and disgusting.
Don’t get me wrong she loves me… maybe. She’s very defensive over me when it comes to teachers being weird and bullying. She just… is prone to getting mad.
Her mom needs to back off and respect her personal space and her body. Stop it already!Never Miss a StorySign up to get our BEST stories of the week straight to your inbox.
OP is clearly frustrated.
Let’s see what Reddit has to say.
This person thinks the mom is clearly messed up.
Yelling this into the neighborhood would’ve gotten attention!

This person suggests therapy.
The therapy strategy suggested in the last comment is a good idea. It just might work.
Her mom clearly doesn’t listen and/or doesn’t care about her daughter’s boundaries, and that’s not okay. OP didn’t do anything wrong. Her mom is the one who needs help.
