GTA 6 leaker shares footage suggesting link or access to playable build of the game, as Rockstar struggles to contain even more gameplay videos

UPDATE 1PM BST: An earlier version of this article wrongly suggested that the leaker had “full access” to the GTA 6 game, based on the declaration of what appears to be an impersonating social media account. CyberLeek, the group responsible, stated that copycat accounts are appearing, but that it only operates the Telegram account and website, which has been removed. “Some impersonators using the username CyberLeek have appeared on various social media platforms, including X, Discord and here on Telegram,” the group wrote in a post on Telegram. “We remind you that we only operate an official website and this Telegram channel, which was created as a precautionary measure.” Eurogamer apologizes for the error. Watch on YouTube ORIGINAL STORY 12:30 pm BST: Rockstar appears to be struggling to contain Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay video leaks for a second day. Worse still, the person responsible for the leak, CyberLeeks, has published new images of the game in which the word “leek” appears written on a wall with bullet holes, suggesting access to a playable version of the game. Three GTA 6 videos leaked yesterday, and a fourth appeared today, showing a biplane flying over a major city, presumably Vice City, showing how large and detailed the gameplay area appears to be. Towering office blocks rise into the sky while highways spiral around them, and small dot-shaped cars drive along them. The radio plays on the plane, which flies without any urgency or specific destination. The video ends with the game’s co-star Jason firing a rifle at a wall and leaving bullet holes that spell, as mentioned, the word “leek,” suggesting a link between whoever recorded the footage and CyberLeek, or that the leaker himself is the one apparently playing the game in the footage. It has not yet been confirmed whether these videos are real and, if they are, how current they are. These are unlikely to come from the GTA 6 ‘extended look’ trailer airing on Netflix next week, given their raw and unedited nature, as if they were recorded by someone playing the game, and the inclusion of the word “leek” now all but confirms this. We also have no idea how long the apparent leaks will continue. The motivation behind the leaks is supposedly a backlash because GTA 6 doesn’t come on a game disc and because Rockstar is offering what appears to be a substantial amount of exclusive content from the game to people who buy the more expensive Ultimate Edition of the game. But the leaker is also profiting from these cryptocurrency leaks through an associated and incentivized donation campaign. This monetary angle has resulted in fierce condemnation from consumer rights movements such as Stop Killing Games, which has urged its followers not to support “illegal” acts like this. “Do not send your money to these people, no matter how much sympathy you may have for their actions,” Stop Killing Games said.
