Nintendo’s remake of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 hasn’t had a very good history of leaks. Everything about it has been leaked: the existence of the game itself was revealed and hinted at months before its official announcement, and more recently, the new Switch 2 consoles and Zelda-themed Switch 2 Pro controllers found their way online. Although we haven’t seen any games yet as of this writing, it will be interesting to see how Nintendo shares it for the first time and what avenue they choose to do so. It’s pretty clear that the company hasn’t really been in control when it comes to releasing new data about the Ocarina of Time remake, so today we’re speculating where and when we might see the game, and when it might release. A really good way to predict game releases is by looking at amiibo. They are often announced months in advance and are almost always released on the same day as a new Nintendo game. The only exception to this in recent history has been the Chef Kawasaki amiibo, which will only be released on September 3rd. The next Sword Kirby and Noir Dedede figure for Kirby Air Riders will supposedly be released on November 12th, which is a Thursday, that’s lined up so far. This also begs the question: Will the Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2 console and Pro Controller release on the same day? There would be many products that would be launched exactly the same day, but it would not be the first time this has happened. Nintendo used to release more than seven amiibo per wave, and as recently as 2025 the company released Switch 2, Mario Kart World, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom’s Switch 2 Editions, and four new Tears of the Kingdom amiibo, all on the same day. So it’s certainly possible that we’re in for another big day of Nintendo shopping, with the release of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, two Kirby Air Riders amiibo that are almost as expensive as the game, a new Switch 2 console, and a new Switch 2 Pro Controller. But it’s also important to note that the leaked designs don’t mention the Ocarina of Time remake, just that it’s Zelda’s 40th anniversary. So in theory, Nintendo could release this new Switch 2 set on its own, separately from the Ocarina of Time remake, maybe a week early? That becomes more likely if it turns out that this bundle doesn’t include a digital copy of Ocarina of Time. The leaked box doesn’t mention any digital copy included, so that appears to be the case. Regardless, we’re sure that the Nintendo Switch 2 and Zelda-themed controller will be extremely popular and will likely sell out quickly. Let’s hope we don’t see them with a 50 percent increase on resale sites as soon as they become available! And as for the Ocarina of Time remake, it will be interesting to see if Nintendo holds a dedicated Nintendo Direct or includes it as part of a general September Direct. Ocarina of Time is a prolific enough remake to warrant its own presentation, but it’s possible that Nintendo could carve out 20 minutes of a general Direct even though the game could technically stand on its own. There’s always the occasional news story from Nintendo Today, but we feel the game is too big for that – it deserves, at the very least, to be featured in a Nintendo Direct. Historically, Nintendo usually holds a presentation in September, and as August comes to a close, we’re sure to hear some rumors starting to emerge.
