CHICAGO (WLS) — An emergency response involving a United Airlines plane could be seen at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport Thursday afternoon. The FAA said a preliminary investigation found that the flight blew a tire during takeoff. ABC7 Chicago is now broadcasting 24/7. Click here to view United Airlines Flight 455, bound for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, was able to safely abort takeoff after bursting a tire around 1:45 p.m., the FAA said. Passengers were disembarked at the tarmac and taken by buses to a terminal, officials said. The plane is a Boeing 737-900. United issued a statement saying, “United Flight 455 ended its takeoff roll after sustaining tire damage. Customers disembarking via stairs and buses were taken back to the terminal. We are arranging for another plane to take them to Phoenix later today.” officials said. The FAA is investigating. ABC News contributed to this report. This is a developing story.
