Dallas Weather: Cold front sweeps across North Texas

DALLAS – A cold front moves east and southeast through the Metroplex Tuesday morning, ending overnight storms across most of the region and giving way to gusty winds and cooler weather. What we know: While some areas experienced strong storms overnight, conditions in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are drying quickly Tuesday morning. Non-severe thunderstorms with heavy rain and lightning continue to hit the same locations south and east of the Metroplex, raising concerns for localized flooding from Athens to Cayuga and Fairfield. Most polling places open at 7 a.m. in dry conditions, but voters in and around Palestine may have to wait until late Tuesday morning before the rain completely disappears. Light to moderate rain also continues on the eastern side of Guangzhou before exiting. 7-Day Forecast By the numbers: Readings are in the upper 50s and low 60s behind the boundary, compared to the upper 60s and low 70s ahead of it. Afternoon highs will reach the upper 60s to low 70s, a notable drop from Monday’s 85 degrees. Northwest winds will blow at 25 mph on Tuesday, with some gusts reaching higher speeds. An upper-level low pressure system will send clouds through the area Tuesday afternoon, keeping areas closer to the Red River cooler due to thicker cloud cover.
