A fully playable version of Portal prequel F-Stop leaked

Leakers have created a playable version of the canceled Portal prequel, F-Stop. The majority of the assets came from the massive 12 terabyte leak that occurred in August of this year. That didn’t include the game’s source code or map data, but those final pieces apparently arrived on the Valve Cut Content Discord this week, allowing a nearly complete version to be put together. Some dialogue and F-Stop items eventually made their way to Portal 2. But it differs dramatically from the main Portal games in that it’s built around a camera mechanic that lets you capture an item by taking its photo and placing it somewhere else using the resulting Polaroid-like photos. It is no different from Viewfinder in that sense. The game is short, with videos showing its entire campaign lasting less than an hour. However, that’s not too surprising. F-Stop was developed as part of “Directed Design Experiments”, a three-month period in 2007 in which Valve split into five teams to create new video game experiments.
