Apple released iOS 27.2 this week with new features for Messages, Siri AI, and Photos, plus a rebranding of Apple Music and more. But work on iOS 27.3 is already underway, this is when the next big iPhone update is expected. iOS 27.3 is almost available in beta, with a public release expected in mid-December. If you follow Apple closely, the company’s software release patterns quickly become clear. For example, iOS 27.2 was released this week around the same time as Apple’s previous releases in previous years. The only difference is that normally we would have expected iOS 27.1 in the last week of October instead of 27.2. But because Apple is making iOS 27.1 exclusive to the iPhone Duo, all software releases for the iOS 27 cycle will be off by one number, despite following the same schedule as always. That means iOS 27.3 is next and its release should align with historical patterns for x.2 updates. iOS 27.3 is expected to arrive in beta in the coming days; It is likely to be Monday, November 2nd. As for public release, here’s what the last few years have shown for comparable x.2 updates: iOS 26.2: Friday, December 12 iOS 18.2: Wednesday, December 11 iOS 17.2: Monday, December 11 Based on this pattern, iOS 27.3 is expected to release in mid-December. Apple always tries to ship its last software update of the year with a little leeway before taking a vacation. That way, if a major issue arises, the company can develop a quick fix and eliminate it before much of the company takes time off. As for the new iPhone features in iOS 27.3, we’ll know a lot more after the beta arrives. So far, though, we’re at the very least looking forward to the additional Siri AI languages Apple announced this week, plus the return of the new Health app. Will you install the iOS 27.3 beta or wait for the release version?
