Admittedly, my Bengals bias will show here. But I’ve been curious about the Steelers’ offense. Although not in the “let’s learn more” sense. My interest is more of the “why are you the way you are” type. Because every time I think they’re going to come up short, like when they played Cincinnati, Aaron Rodgers keeps proving me wrong. Week 6 was a classic Rodgers game. Some movement in the pocket to extend plays. The arrogance of the arm. And of course, the short TD that “fills in the stats” to increase your total scores. Rodgers is like Josh Allen on the goal line; he simply prefers to throw the ball rather than run. But the future Hall of Famer is averaging 11th in passing yards per game and is on a streak of four games with two or more touchdowns. This offense, as much as I hate to admit it, is good for fantasy. And there are a couple of reasons why. Pass Rate Above Expectations: +4.9%, 2nd Average Time to Throw: 2.63s, T-10th Fastest. Passing a DOT: 6.7, 7th Shortest Midfield Shot Rate: 55.2%, 6th Highest. Pittsburgh’s offensive line has one of the best protection units in six weeks. Rodgers has an average pressure time of 2.68 seconds. For reference, the league average is around 2.55. He is also below average in quick pressure rate (41.2%; league average: 54.4%). The result has been the “Grip It and Rip It Show,” with the number 8. However, instead of pushing the ball downfield, Rodgers has relied on high-percentage appearances at the Treasury. But when combined with his pass-catching talent, I get it.
