Microsoft today officially announces its Xbox Nano controller, a smaller, cheaper controller that’s designed to fit in your pocket. The more compact controller is also designed for “younger gamers, smaller hands, or anyone looking for something portable to play on the go.” The $49.99 Xbox Nano is Microsoft’s smallest controller and is shorter than most smartphones, at just over five inches long. It has all the normal buttons you’d find on a regular Xbox controller, as well as Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth support for connecting to Xbox consoles, phones, tablets, and PCs. The Xbox Nano controller also includes a rechargeable battery and does not require AA batteries or a separate charging pack like most Xbox controllers. Microsoft has also added a programmable action button to the Xbox Nano controller that can be customized to take screenshots, gameplay captures, and other Xbox shortcuts. The Xbox Nano was originally leaked earlier this year with what looked like a small screen to indicate cloud or console connectivity. However, that screen is not part of this final shipping model. The rest of the controller appears identical to the leaks, including a USB-C port on the back and a pairing button.
