NYC woman sues Costco over sexual harassment

A Bronx woman claims she was fired from Costco after raising the alarm that her boss was allegedly sexually harassing her. The anonymous accuser alleges that she was fired from the East Harlem Costco on East 117th in January 2025 after working there for two years because she reported the “hostile environment” created by her direct supervisor, Andrea Mills, according to the complaint filed Oct. 1 in Manhattan Supreme Court. Mills’ alleged inappropriate behavior began during a meeting in October 2024 when he complained about the shirt the accuser was wearing: a Costco crew-neck uniform. The accuser worked at Costco for about two years. Getty Images When another supervisor allegedly asked for clarification on what the problem was, Mills yelled at the woman: “You’re a busty woman!” During his next shift, Mills allegedly walked up behind the woman while she was working the cash register, “invaded [her] personal space” and sang to her that she was “the most beautiful girl in the room,” according to the complaint. The accuser claimed in the filing that Mills “continued to sexually harass her” in an attempt to force her to quit her job. It is unclear why she believed Mills wanted her to resign. While she never resigned, she asked to leave work early after feeling uncomfortable around Mills on several occasions and took at least one approved day off, according to the lawsuit. The woman claimed she made at least five verbal complaints to others bosses and formally reported the alleged misconduct, but no action was taken. She even allegedly overheard another supervisor calling her a “troublemaker” for complaining.[She] She needs to stop thinking that people are attacking her.” Her issues with Mills came to a head in December 2024 when the pair allegedly got into a heated argument over how a customer’s outburst at the register was handled. Both women were sent home, but only the accuser was fired in January 2025. She claims it was an act of retaliation. Mills, the accuser’s attorney and Costco did not respond to requests for comment.
