It looks like Bokeh Game Studio, founded by Keiichiro Toyama, who directed the original Silent Hill and created Siren and Gravity Rush, is working on another horror game. The descriptions cover mature themes including drug use and dealing, violence, abuse, grief, and sex work, with several characters linked to creature transformation, all of which sounds surprisingly close to Toyama’s previous game, Slitterhead… which is interesting, given that Slitterhead didn’t exactly set the world alight. River’s entry cites River Phoenix and Kurt Cobain as visual references, while Lyra’s points to Mia Goth as a tonal reference. Bokeh’s debut, Slitterhead, was released in 2024. I bucked the trend with my four out of five star verdict in Eurogamer’s Slitterhead review, writing: “Slitterhead is stylish, exciting and unusual (and really, how can you say no when there’s one Slitterhead in particular that looks uncannily similar to Beetlejuice?). How lucky we are that something as unique and downright bizarre as this exists.”
