Volkswagen ID. Tiguan Debuts

The Volkswagen ID.4 as we know it is dead and Volkswagen is officially announcing its replacement. Meet the new and improved ID. Tiguan. The new ID. Tiguan will succeed the ID.4 and ID.5 in the European market, bringing a more traditional SUV design, a redesigned interior and up to 600 kilometers (373 miles) of WLTP range in Europe. The electric SUV will be launched in Germany and other European markets in early 2027, while the petrol-, diesel- and hybrid-powered Tiguan will continue alongside it. The new model takes on a more upright and muscular appearance with sharper body lines and sculpted sheet metal. The company is even bringing back the classic pull-style exterior door handles, praise be. Inside, there is even more to see. Volkswagen says it has focused heavily on quality materials and intuitive controls, addressing some of the complaints surrounding its previous ID models, including those annoying capacitive touch controls. Tiguan will launch with three different powertrain options in Europe, but it’s unclear if all three options will come to the US: 58.0 kWh battery, 188 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, 77.0 kWh battery, 281 horsepower, 77.0 kWh battery, rear-wheel drive, 295 horsepower, all-wheel drive Volkswagen says the ID. Tiguan will offer up to 373 miles (600 km) of WLTP range, depending on configuration. VW has also improved its towing capacity, with the 58.0 kWh model capable of towing up to 3,968 pounds (1,800 kg), while the 77.0 kWh versions can tow up to 4,409 pounds (2,000 kg). There’s also a 32-liter (1.1 cu ft) boot, while the rear cargo area offers up to 534 liters (18.9 cu ft) of storage. The identification. Tiguan will also support vehicle-to-charge functionality. Tiguan gets a very different interior Photo by: Volkswagen The dashboard is dominated by a 10.0-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver, a 15.0-inch central infotainment screen and, for the first time in a European Volkswagen, an optional 12.0-inch screen dedicated to the front passenger. Volkswagen also offers a new “Retro” mode that can transform the driver’s digital gauges into a recreation of the Golf IV’s blue and red instrumentation. Volkswagen says the system can automatically stop the vehicle at red lights. Other available features include massage, ventilated and power-adjustable front seats, a panoramic sunroof and a 480-watt Harman Kardon sound system. Pre-orders in Germany and several other European countries begin on October 13, with prices starting at 42,695 euros, or approximately $48,000 at the current exchange rate. The identification.
