Clark finished fourth overall for the award, which Las Vegas center A’ja Wilson won for a record fifth time. Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers earned three third-place votes en route to finishing in sixth place, and Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese received four fourth-place votes and finished seventh. He helped Dallas improve from 10 to 27 wins, earning a playoff berth. The Wings pushed the No. 2 Golden State Valkyries to three games, but fell in the first round. Reese came to Atlanta after being traded from the Chicago Sky, and helped the Dream win 30 games for the second straight year. This season’s Defensive Player of the Year averaged 16.4 points, 12.1 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. The Dream finished second in defensive rating. Atlanta is currently one win away from reaching the WNBA Finals after winning 2-0 in their semifinal series with the New York Liberty.
