NFL’s Dasha Smith Named COO of CAA

Creative Artists Agency is making an important new addition to this C-suite. The agency has hired Dasha Smith to serve as chief operating officer. Smith joins CAA from the NFL, where she was executive vice president and chief administrative officer. In the NFL, Smith was one of Commissioner Roger Goodell’s top deputies, overseeing a broad range of business functions including technology, artificial intelligence and innovation, data and analytics, strategy and business intelligence, human resources, inclusion, social responsibility and philanthropy, and league office administration. He will bring that operational experience to CAA, where he will work with the agency’s senior management to manage its daily operations. “Dasha is a remarkably talented, accomplished and energetic leader with a deep understanding of how global organizations operate at their best,” said CAA Co-Chairman and CEO Bryan Lourd. “We look forward to welcoming him to our senior management team and benefiting from his significant experience helping to guide major media and sports organisations.” “I have tremendous respect for the industry leadership position that CAA and its management team continue to build each year,” Smith added. “Even greater is my gratitude for their consistent and widely admired mission to provide the best possible service and resources to their clients. Joining a culture with that kind of clarity and purpose is an extraordinary opportunity.” Prior to joining the NFL, Smith was executive vice president and global head of human resources for Sony Music Entertainment and also worked in senior positions at Time Inc. for nearly 10 years.
