Stranger found in bed at Henrico home shot dead after argument

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — A man died after residents of a Henrico home returned home to find a stranger lying in an upstairs bed, sparking an argument that ended in a shooting Friday night, police said. Steven Alan Jones was found dead in a bedroom of a home in the 1600 block of Hilliard Road around 10:30 p.m. Friday, according to Henrico police. Officers responded to the scene after receiving reports of a shooting. LOCATION VIDEO: Man killed in Henrico shooting Three adults, two men and a woman, were taken into custody for questioning. Police said two of them, a man and a woman, came home that night and found Jones in a bed upstairs. A third man was already inside the home when they arrived and said he hadn’t noticed anything unusual before finding Jones. An argument broke out between the three men and Jones was shot, police said. Jones did not appear to know any of the three adults involved, according to investigators. After reviewing the evidence and speaking with the Henrico County Prosecutor’s Office, the office that decides whether criminal charges are filed, police said no charges will be filed at this time.
