Rockstar Suggests Disney World and Seaworld Probably Won’t Be in GTA 6

Rockstar has suggested that GTA 6 will likely not include some key Florida attractions, such as Disney World and SeaWorld. As part of a recent Game Informer cover story about GTA 6, Rockstar Games seemed to suggest that its fictional version of Florida, known as Leonida, won’t include all of the Sunshine State’s iconic elements. Game Informer asked Rockstar Senior Vice President of Environmental Art Paul MacPherson about some key attractions like Disney World, Seaworld, and Universal Studios, and how they would be integrated into the game. MacPherson suggested that not all of those locations will appear in GTA 6, as they have had to be selective about what they include for the sake of the narrative and game design, but maintained that the ultimate goal is to replicate the true Florida experience. “We have to constantly evaluate the diversity of landscapes, cities, structures, landmarks, views, plant species, rock formations and everything else before working with the design and narrative to distill a list that best works and serves the needs of the game,” he said. “So while we may not have those exact locations, everything we have is geared toward providing that full Florida experience!” Rockstar didn’t rule out any specific locations, but the commentary suggests that you won’t find all of the main attractions in GTA 6. GTA 5 allowed players to explore the Venice Beach boardwalk, which featured the pier and its various activities. Players could ride a roller coaster and a Ferris wheel, but overall, it was nothing to write home about. There’s no reason to do it more than once, and as a result, building an entire park around something like this may not be the best use of development resources. However, the game will feature a zoo for players to explore. Animals are a big part of GTA 6, as the game will feature over 170 different types of creatures, including rare and legendary breeds that can be studied. There will be unique places to explore in depth, even if there are no theme parks. Rockstar also spent a lot of time in Florida, researching the area by living in it firsthand. The studio confirmed that he even visited strip clubs and nightclubs as part of his research. Cade Onder is a freelancer on IGN’s news team.
