Anthony was pulled during Boston’s Game 1 loss to the Yankees on Tuesday. He was later diagnosed with damage to the muscles in his wrist. Anthony also reportedly aggravated the hand injury that bothered him during the 2026 season. Manager Chad Tracy spoke about the injury on Wednesday. “They sent him back last night after leaving the game,” Tracy said. “We sent him back to Boston for additional imaging which actually revealed some new strains in different muscles in his wrist, in addition to exasperating old injuries. Not great.” Anthony spoke to the media and was clearly still dealing with the impact of his diagnosis. “I feel sick to my stomach. I haven’t slept much. It doesn’t feel real…getting the same news again, and even worse…it’s hard.” The Red Sox outfielder is out “for the foreseeable future.” Anthony started Game 1 on Tuesday as the designated hitter, hitting leadoff. Manager Chad Tracy told reporters after the game that “his hand went wide on him” and that he’s not sure if Anthony will need to undergo imaging or if he will be available Wednesday.
