Eagles coach Nick Sirianni appeared to be yelling obscenities toward Bears linebacker D’Marco Jackson after a hit on quarterback Jalen Hurts that forced Hurts to leave the game for a concussion evaluation Monday night. Later, Sirianni repented. Sirianni said after the Eagles’ 27-7 loss to the Bears that he doesn’t believe Jackson, who was penalized for unnecessary roughness, was trying to make a dirty play. “You always want to fight for your players and protect them,” Sirianni said. “I always come out of a moment like that with regret. ‘Man, I shouldn’t have let my emotions get the best of me.’ Those guys are out there trying to make a play. It was a close call on the sideline. It ended up being a penalty, obviously you never want to see your quarterback take a hit like that. But it’s in the heat of the moment, I know no one is trying to hurt anyone and I always feel remorse when I act that way. But I always love fighting for our players. I love our players. guys. So the emotion of the game probably got the better of me today and I have to learn from that. In that particular moment I have to be more assertive in that situation. I didn’t like how I handled that. Sirianni criticized himself in his postgame comments, saying that he was coached better. After the Eagles’ first loss, Sirianni has a few things he needs to work on.
