Young man shot in Cardiff Hall Apartments, Towson University lifts shelter-in-place alert Baltimore County police say injured man taken to hospital, TU says victim was not student TOWSON, Md. — Baltimore County police are investigating a shooting that left an 18-year-old man injured Sunday night and the Towson University campus on alert. According to police, officers were called around 7:15 p.m. to a shooting in the 8000 block of York Road. An 18-year-old man was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Authorities asked people to avoid the area amid a large police presence. A Towson University campus-wide shelter-in-place alert was issued Sunday night, reporting an emergency situation in which everyone on campus was advised to shelter in place and close windows and doors. The shelter-in-place alert was lifted around 10 p.m. TU Public Safety sent an alert to the university community at 7:20 p.m. reporting a shooting at 8013 York Road. Shortly before 8:30 p.m., the university sent an email notice to community members, saying that a shooting investigation was underway at Cardiff Hall Apartments and that there was police activity in the area amid a search for suspects. The university reported additional police activity on campus near Osler Drive that was related to the shooting. In a statement, the university said the shooting victim is not a TU student. “We recognize that an extended shelter-in-place order may be unsettling, particularly for students living on campus and for families concerned about their well-being, and we are grateful for the patience and cooperation of our entire community throughout the night,” the university said, in part.
