Amid rumors that the field at Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, won’t withstand the rigors of an NFL game, the league insists everything is fine. NFL field director Nick Pappas told reporters in Brazil today that “there is no need to worry.” Pappas said he reviewed the playing surface with an independent expert and a representative of the NFL Players Association and there are no safety concerns. “We have an independent inspector that comes, walks with me, walks with a member of the NFLPA,” Pappas said. “They were here yesterday. They ran that test. Things are good. We’ve made additional improvements to the field that we think were helpful.” The game, which is considered a Cowboys home game, begins at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday.
