Seven armed groups announce an alliance to overthrow the government. Despite decades of peace agreements and ceasefires, armed groups in Ethiopia have continued to fight each other as well as the military. Now, some of these former rivals have formed an alliance to oust the government from Addis Ababa. They warn that Ethiopia is on the verge of disintegration and blame Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. Abiy says the country can defend itself, but Ethiopians fear they are on the brink of another civil war. So could these former rivals, with deep political and ideological divisions, achieve their common goal?
