CHAPEL HILL – North Carolina has indefinitely suspended freshman wide receiver Keeyun Chapman after he was arrested Tuesday night for carrying a concealed weapon (handgun), the university said in a statement Wednesday. The traffic stop, which led to Chapman’s arrest, was initiated by police after fellow freshman wide receiver CJ Sadler was estimated to be going 60 to 65 mph in a 35 mph zone, according to the officer in the report. An hour before the stop, Sadler’s 2024 Cadillac Escalade V was also reported to police as a “careless and reckless driver.” Additionally, police also seized 15.1 grams of marijuana from inside the vehicle during the stop, according to the report. Chapman and Sadler were listed as absent on UNC’s availability report Wednesday night, which is mandated by the ACC before conference games. Chapman has yet to see the field this season for the Tar Heels, while Sadler, who was cited for speeding on Tuesday for the third time since early August, caught three passes for 66 yards last Saturday.
