CD Projekt Red will bring its games to Battle.net. The surprise collaboration with the Blizzard store began with the announcement that The Witcher 3 made the jump at Gamescom and continued this weekend with the news that Cyberpunk 2077 is also coming to the launcher. To sweeten the deal, a Geralt of Rivia skin will also be available for Diablo 4’s Barbarian class. Unfortunately, the only way to unlock it is by pre-ordering The Witcher 3’s upcoming Songs of the Past expansion on Battle.net. Details of the collaboration were shared during a 30 Years of Battle.net panel at BlizzCon 2026. In addition to announcing that Cyberpunk 2077 and its Phantom Liberty expansion will be joining the Blizzard store later this year, CDPR also gave players a better look at the Geralt skin coming for Diablo 4’s Barbarian class and explained what players will need to do to unlock it. While it’s a nice surprise for fans who almost exclusively play Blizzard games within the Battle.net launcher, everyone else is excluded. Requiring a Battle.net pre-order essentially excludes anyone who primarily plays on Steam or console, and would even force people who already own The Witcher 3 to purchase it again on Battle.net if they decide to play Songs of the Past there after all. As you can imagine, players have several complaints and they are not limited to just the method of unlocking Geralt’s first appearance in Sanctuary. What did they do to my boy? https://t.co/SbSudwp57U — Mortheous♿️ (@Mortheous) September 14, 2026 “Why have they made Geralt an asshole?” asked one player on The Witcher 3 subreddit. “Being locked into Battle Net is diabolical,” someone else wrote on X. “Why would I buy cosmetics for a game that you guys confirmed yesterday no longer has major content updates?” someone wrote in direct response to Diablo’s social media account. The comment was a reaction to the weekend’s news that there will be no more expansions for Diablo 4 in the lead-up to Diablo 5. As for the aesthetic criticisms, of which there are many, it’s worth remembering that Geralt’s cosmetic skin for Diablo 4 had to adhere to the existing Barbarian hitbox and moveset. “And you can see here, for those who know, that this armor is heavily inspired by Geralt’s iconic Kaer Morhen armor,” The Witcher 3 level design lead Miles Tost explained. “There’s a little bit of Barbarian sprinkled on top… you see all the fur. I think you can see here how we’re trying to create collaborations like these in a way that makes sense for both the teams and the worlds and also for the fans. I hope you can see here how we’ve created something that feels at home in Sanctuary.” As for purchase requirements, though, it’s a shame the collaboration isn’t available only to anyone who owns Diablo 4 and pre-orders Songs of the Past. Perhaps CDPR and Blizzard’s plan is to eventually make Geralt’s skin available for standalone purchase to anyone who owns the game. At that point, everyone can start complaining about the price.
