Police arrested a person of interest after a series of stabbings in Houma, Louisiana, left at least four people dead and another in critical condition in the hospital. The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Kaegan Jude Solet, 47, had been taken into custody after deputies were initially called to the area of Ashland Drive in Houma and located a juvenile with apparent stab wounds. “This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available,” the office said in a statement. The victim was airlifted to a hospital outside the area and remains in critical condition. As the investigation continued, authorities later found four deceased victims in a nearby home. Solet was previously arrested in connection with a 2019 stabbing in Houma. According to a press release from the Houma Police Department, Solet, then 40 years old, was accused of repeatedly stabbing a 59-year-old woman at a hotel after an argument. Solet was identified as a suspect in the case when investigators learned he was a guest in the victim’s room. Officers said the couple had gotten into some type of argument and Solet stabbed the victim repeatedly in the upper body and head. She was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Solet was booked at the time on a charge of attempted second-degree murder. The 2019 case is separate from the current investigation. Identification of a person of interest does not constitute an arrest or criminal charge. Authorities have not announced any charges against him in the current case. The current investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and develop information regarding the incidents.
